Colin Moorman: A Decade at Duttons

There is nothing we own that has more of an emotional element than the home. Life happens here. From birthdays and celebrations, sorrow and happiness, new babies, family gatherings. They all happen at home. For these reasons there is no experience quite like buying real estate. That’s how Colin Moorman sees it.

It was a bit of serendipity that brought Colin to Duttons 10 years ago. One afternoon, Colin’s wife Florence was having lunch with their long-time friend and Realtor®, Lois Dutton. Florence mentioned in passing that Colin was considering a career change. Having spent the last 20 years as Executive Director at the Cridge Centre, he wanted a new challenge. It just so happened that Lois was looking to take on a new agent and suggested Colin give it a try.

Having run a large successful non-profit for two decades, Colin figured that coming to Duttons would be a big change. At the Cridge Centre, Colin’s job was all about helping families through transitions so it was a pleasant surprise to discover that working in real estate had many similarities.

Buying a home, whether for the first time or the tenth, is a major transition. There is stress involved. There are hundreds of questions that need answers. There are decisions, sometimes tough ones, to be made. Guiding people through transitions is what Colin excels at so coming to work at Duttons was a natural fit.

It’s been 10 years since Colin made his own life transition into real estate. So what motivates him to come to work every day? The people. He loves working with his clients throughout the process of buying a new home, and staying in touch with them after all is said and done. There’s nothing Colin likes more than calling up a client years down the road to ask how they’re doing and hearing that they just love their home.
